Builder’s merchant Vehmeyer has equipped its fleet of trucks with ATLAS loader cranes – powerful and precise cranes – extensive range of attachments – safety in every area
It’s a familiar situation. Some pallets of bricks have to be unloaded in a residential area with tight access. All the while, cars line up and wait to drive on. In situations like this, the driver must stay calm and work quickly. In order to work quickly and safely, Vehmeyer OHG has opted for ATLAS loader cranes, including the AK 206.E with five telescopic extensions. The newest model is able to handle a load of up to 4 tonnes in its retracted position and has a maximum outreach of up to 20.24 metres. It then works with an operating pressure of 310 bar.
Major builder’s merchant in Emsland – long partnership
The company E.A. Vehmeyer OHG was founded more than 200 years ago. The head office is still located in Haselünne in the district of Emsland. Originally a manufacturer of bricks, the company eventually evolved to include the region’s largest sawmill and merchant for building materials and components. Today, Vehmeyer has more than 200 employees at four locations in northern Germany. For well over ten years, the ATLAS dealer Seemann has been the dedicated partner for ATLAS loader cranes. Founded in 1966, Werner Seemann GmbH has over 70 employees at three locations in East Frisia, Bremen and Osnabrück.
All trucks equipped with ATLAS loader cranes – electric truck
All five trucks for Vehmeyer’s building material deliveries are fitted with ATLAS cranes. In the medium-duty crane segment, ATLAS offers 16 models – from loads of up to 3 tonnes at 8 metres, to 7.5 tonnes at a reach of over 20 metres. Altogether, ATLAS currently offers 48 different loader cranes with reaches from 5.1 to 22 metres and a load-bearing capacity from 0.99 to 13.4 tonnes. Cranes can also be customized for individual requirements. The next technical step is being planned at Vehmeyer: building material deliveries are to be carried out with an electric-powered truck. These plans, which are currently being prepared, also involve the ATLAS loader crane.
Accessories – wide range
At Vehmeyer, the loader crane is mounted on a three-axled MAN truck and is equipped with a brick stack grapple and rotary motor – just the right tool for delivering building materials. With its crane fork, rotating fork, clamshell bucket, universal bucket, barrier lifter, auger, rotating motors and much more, ATLAS offers a wide range of equipment that makes the loader crane highly versatile for different applications. Overall, there are 24 attachments for all loader crane models.
Safety foremost
The ATLAS loader cranes are equipped with ATLAS Crane Management (ACM) – the reliable central control system for ATLAS loader cranes. This way, the drivers can focus completely on their work, while the ACM monitors safety during use. System control occurs entirely in real time for disruption-free operation as well as overload protection, emergency shutdown and monitoring other safety equipment.
Steadfast and stable
The EAW monitoring equipment by ATLAS meets the safety and performance requirements of EN 12999:2021. In this integrated safety monitoring system, stability monitoring is an integral part of the crane’s safety circuit. Moreover, working pressure is continuously adjusted to the results of the stability check. With the hydraulic outrigger, box-type outrigger, automatically swivelling outrigger and gas-spring-assisted outrigger, ATLAS offers many stabilisation options. The robust and precise production is reflected in the minimal play in the extension system, for example. Another example of safety is the routing of the hydraulic hoses within the column and the automatic retraction feature that prevents the hoses from being crushed or entangled. The crane is operated remotely with an HBC cross-lever. This is also available with a control knob for three features per lever. Other remote-control options are possible as well.
