A new water pipe needs to be laid in the Schwennau district of Glücksburg. The ATLAS 185 W mobile excavator is in action. Schwennau is a very quiet district. A residential area boasting lots of greenery and large gardens. This is where the ATLAS 185 W “quiet excavator” fits in perfectly. This new series is equipped with sophisticated sound insulation. Very little can be heard from it even under high loads. The external noise level is 98 dB(A). The cabin is as quiet as a living room thanks to a noise level of 69 dB(A). What’s more, thanks to the new design of the upper and undercarriage and the excellent interaction of all components, there is hardly any working noise. This results in further positive effects. The 185 W offers more precision, more direct handling and greater cost-effectiveness.
Well-equipped for a wide range of applications
The 6-cylinder Deutz engine generates 129 kW/175 hp with EU Stage V, which is 24 kW more than its predecessor model. The environmentally friendly operating foundation for the AWE 5 hydraulic system, which operates with a delivery rate of 340 l/min (80 l/min more than its predecessor) at a maximum operating pressure of 350 bar. This means fast and quiet working movements in practice. Most importantly: extremely precise movements of the excavator and boom with attached equipment. This can be seen in the 185 W when it excavates or digs with millimetre precision at narrow access points to the work site. In doing so, the uppercarriage can move very quickly at 9 rpm. The lifting cylinder is also dimensioned larger with a diameter of 110 mm. This, in combination with the heavier counterweight, increases the lifting capacity. The ATLAS 185 W is designed to be used for many tasks.
Quick coupler and tilt rotator – more powerful hydraulics
It has the capability to change add-on tools in seconds thanks to its hydraulic quick coupler. That’s what you need for economical construction. In a matter of seconds, it can switch from bucket to hammer to rotary grapple to bucket and so on. Manually changing add-on tools would ultimately be really expensive. The tilt rotator also makes work even faster. It lets you rotate the respective add-on tool 360° without end and can also swivel 50° to both sides. This means that the excavator does not have to be moved to achieve a favourable working position, but rather the respective add-on tool is moved with the help of the tilt rotator. Doing so saves a lot of time and fuel. Furthermore, the hydraulic drive motor offers greater power. This makes it possible to work faster overall. The tractive force has also been increased to 113 KN.
Equipment for a wide range of construction sites – stable
The ATLAS 185 W can be enhanced even further with a large and useful package of additional equipment. Refuelling pump, cab extension, widened axles and so much more. The many variants offered by ATLAS for booms make the machine particularly interesting. Reaches of up to 10,200 mm and digging depths of up to 6,400 mm are possible. With 68 KN tear-out force and 100 KN break-away force. The 185 W is always stable. The intelligent undercarriage design and the low centre of gravity make it a safe working machine.
The most important thing – the cab
The most important thing is the people who work with this excavator. That’s why the ATLAS designers have invested a great deal of work in optimising the workplace. Outstanding all-round visibility, especially to the right, along with the reversing and side view camera. Clear, easy-to-read display and a prominent control console. Greve Bauunternehmen construction group high in the north
The Greve civil engineering company was founded in 1967 and Greve building construction in 1980. Both are now based in Twedt and employ a total of 120 staff. Twedt is a small municipality near the Schlei between Schleswig and Kappeln. Schleswig-Holstein is also Greve’s primary working region. The main focus is on civil engineering.
